Much like the discussion about clearing up the clutter, we need to better organize our members to help maintain the different zones in the space. At present there are only a few people who try to keep things running in different areas, and some zones simply don't have any consistent leadership. So we end up with people wondering why X is not working in a given zone. We've been pecking away at this problem for a while, and when we had the move over to the Quackenbush Building, we had zone leaders that organized moving things from the old space and getting things (nominally) set up. But those volunteers did not necessarily intend for that to be their role going forward, and some have stepped away from that role.
So it's time to get a roster of zone leaders together. Or, what I would like to rebrand as "SRP"s - Single Responsible Person. Now, let me be clear, this does not mean that individual is the only one doing work and helping to maintain that zone... it just means that they are responsible for doing some of that work and for delegating the rest of the tasks to other volunteers.
So, I'd like some comments and suggestions about this system. I'm going to be reaching out to self-identified experts in each zone to ask if they are willing to serve as maintenance helpers for that zone, and to ask for a SRP from that pool of individuals. If there is a zone where we can't get an SRP, maybe we should reconsider offering that zone (yes, I'm serious - a non-functional, or worse, DANGEROUS, zone is worse than not having that capability at all).
